Initially, every four years, the International Football Federation holds a football competition, currently there are 32 countries competing in the world cup.

It is the biggest and most important event that FIFA organizes and decides through a structured election in which host nation the games will take place.

The first was in Uruguay in 1930, in 1941 and 1946 it was not there, as the Second World War was going on, however, as the years went by, it became indispensable and became the one with the most audience.

Evolution of the World Cup

Firstly, football is very popular, however, it wasn't like that right away. Little by little the event became so huge that the whole world was mobilized for 30 days.

A clear example is that between 1930 and 1978, the World Cup had only 16 participants. Then in 1982 the competition started to receive 24 teams and then in 1998 it already had 32 teams.

However, this year, 2022, is the last year that the championship will receive 32 teams, for the year 2026, it will have 48 teams.

Finally, we will finish with the best results obtained over the years. The European and South American teams have always performed better than the other participants.

Therefore, in total, only eight nations won the World Cup: Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, France and England.
